Blog (from my page at Tagworld)
Crazy Apr 27, 2006
Well, it's been a long time since my last post and I know that nobody reads these anyway. Sometimes I go a bit crazy - everything starts spiralling, and I start looking for new lifestyle options, new experiences, chances to get out of the routine...! but I'm alright now... .

Been to Barcelona since I last posted, which was really nice, and have just started one of my non-drinking periods which I hope will last into June. I'm playing a 7-a-side footy match on May 6th and have gradings with Master Rey Galang at the end of May and then with Peter Lewis in June (Filipino martial arts) so have stepped up the running and training to get fit and sharp.

Reading Japanese authors at the moment - Ishiguro, Banana Yoshimoto... and watching 'Beat' Takeshi Kitano's films - wonderful!

47 on May 4th... Mmm... New Zero 7 album comes out around then...

Friday Feb 17, 2006
Well... Still annoyed that I can't write back to people who have written to me because they're "only accepting messages from friends". It seems unlikely to me that they realise that they can't get replies from people they've written to. Anyway, they can't be that bothered or they would have written again...
So, after the initial flurry of activity I now get almost no visits. Never mind eh...
This weekend I am taking two belts in Yuli Romo's Ilustrisimo system. it's an exciting time as this is a high-level system which is new in the UK so we're in at the beginning of something I think.

Saturday Jan 28, 2006
Ah, what a surprise... The gaps between entries get longer and longer...

Saturday night, well actually it's already Sunday morning, and I'm mid-way through watching Sin City. What a great film! Got a Chinese film lined up too for later, or another day. Might try and train tomorrow but it could be too cold! Really enjoyed last weekend in Worcester though -  at stick length distance I'm not too bad at fighting I reckon!

Spent this morning in Swindon watching Katherine playing. Tough match and  they lost 3-0. That's the way it goes sometimes.... Next weekend I've got to drive her all the way to Crystal Palace for a Diving competition... Thank god I have a life too!

Sunday Jan 22, 2006
So!

Sunday evening... Has it been a good weekend? Yes...

But... Katherine's footy was called off on Saturday because Trowbridge basically wimped out by claiming a waterlogged pitch even though it had hardly rained...

Spent Saturday afternoon playing our first games of ReZolution (sci-fi figures game) with Nic - lost both games but great fun.

Went to Worcester on Sunday and trained with my teacher's teacher, Peter Lewis, in a Bakbakan Ilustrisimo seminar (Filipino martial arts) which was excellent! Acquitted myself well all the way along, including the sparring, but will have to await until Feb 19th to grade.

Back at home, watched Man U sneak a 1-0 win against Liverpool, in the Rising Sun. Great goal Rio...! On 90.00 minutes...

Friday Jan 20, 2006
Yep! Friday again, and it's come round mighty fast.
Lot of bored teenagers on this site. Don't be bored, be alive!!!
Very interesting murder trial going on around here at the moment. The defendant is accused of stabbing both his parents to death... I met him a couple of times, because he was a martial arts instructor, and I was actually partially responsible for the fact that he was learning Filipino knife drills from my teacher at the time he was arrested. The whole thing is really weird... Nobody had a bad word to say about him but the police have put together a pretty convincing case... My teacher is in court this week or next week I believe in order to testify. I would hate him to go down on the basis of a misunderstanding about what martial arts is about, but it seems like there is a possibility that he is actually a killer, which is kind of scary...
Conspiracy...? Jan 19, 2006
Mmm... Coming to the conclusion that it may not be a fault of the system. Strange though to have posted a comment on someone's site, then get a comment back but not be able to reply. Anybody else having this problem?
Whatever....
Anybody want to talk about martial arts? Or tell me what an overlooked musical genius I clearly am? (If you've got your speakers turned on then you must have noticed by now... Ha ha)
Went running again today - another 4000m - looks like I might have to run this autumn half-marathon after all...

Gone for a funky pastel green background on this posting... with a bit of bold red lettering in a different font...

Tagworld Disaster Jan 19, 2006

There has been a Tagworld disaster!

Something has gone horribly wrong with my account such that I am unable to reply to any messages from non-friends, post any comments or add as friends...

Sorry Noddy, Blondie47 and Nikki200. I will get back to you as soon as Tagworld sort this out.

Bum!
(At least I'm assuming this is an error... Either that or you've all coincidentally commented on my site and then inexpicably blocked all messages from non-friends thus not allowing me to reply to say thanks and stuff...  Or.... maybe it's not coincidental... maybe it's a big conspiracy! WATCH THIS SPACE......)

Now Jan 18, 2006
Can't keep calling these posts 'Today' so I'm gonna vary it a bit. I'm sure nobody reads the bloody things anyway so I guess they're for my benefit. Went running today at lunchtime. Dragged out by my colleague Rachel who's just come back from a year's maternity leave and insisted on running 4000 metres and assuring me that I would be able to do a half-marathon in the autumn. As if I haven't got enough to train for... She could be difficult to dissuade though. Meant to get up at 6 but didn't - might do tomorrow or I'll never get round to watching my vast collection of martial arts training videos. Man U are 1-0 thank god (v. Burton Albion...). Didn't win £1000 this week, which was annoying....

Today Jan 15, 2006
Ah good! Two hours private training today and my right arm now red from getting hit too many times with a stick while sparring. My teacher is stitching me up for trouble next week when we go and train with his teacher ,but I might end up with a belt at the end of next Sunday.

Chicken curry - great!

Trying to watch Shaun Of The Dead on DVD but can't switch the bloody subtitles off. I am having to put books in the way of the bottom of the TV screen so that I don't have to read things like [bell rings] before the bell actually rings - very annoying!

Today Jan 14, 2006
Had plenty to drink last night (first drink since Jan 1) and went to bed at 4:30 - oh dear - feel crap now. Crazed late night idea about putting a band together to play just one gig, which I can't really be arsed to do 'cos I haven't got the time, and who would come anyway? Must get rid of this headache.
